Every EPL Team’s Biggest Weakness in 2014 So Far

Not enough strength-in-depth up front means the Gunners will likely still find challenging for the title tough going. January reinforcements can't really come quick enough for Arsene Wenger and company. Danny Welbeck still needs time to improve and Alexis Sanchez won't always be relied upon to produce some magic.

Conceding big against top sides has been Villa's biggest weakness so far — and it's been exploited massively already. They need to stand up and be counted; otherwise, they face a slippery slide towards the relegation zone yet again.

Disorganized and shapeless at times -- like at West Brom, where they were gunned down easily 4-0 -- the Lancashire club need someone to champion their cause. Particularly, they've been poor when defending set-pieces and they lack self-belief.

It's been plain-sailing for the Blues until now. And being over-reliant on Atletico Madrid import Diego Costa, who's scored a large dollop of their goals to date, has been Jose Mourinho's biggest problem. So far, it's not a massive issue for them, but it could become one if he picks up an injury or forgets how to score.

Frankly, they're drawing games they should be winning. At Burnley and again versus Newcastle United, the Eagles failed to stamp their mark. They're chugging along contentedly right now, but a few bad results in a row will scupper their confidence -- a tad complacent overall.

They're not fulfilling their potential to any degree. On a really poor run of form since the beginning of the season, it may well be too early to start sounding the alarm bells, but the Toffees are in really bad shape right now. Romelu Lukaku, Aiden McGeady, Ross Barkley and others have really not stepped up to the plate so far.

They've shown feistiness, particularly against Manchester City, but their only win has come against a newly-promoted QPR. Do they have the quality to compete? The early signs suggest not.

The Foxes have suffered from a lack of goals from the two strikers that helped them win the Championship last season. Injury has limited the normally prolific Jamie Vardy's role, in particular. Last season, it was their ability to conjure goals on cue that helped them massively in their quest for silverware; it can be their biggest strength, but it's also their most obvious weakness.

Daniel Sturridge's injury, Mario Balotelli's lack of goals and a jaded Steven Gerrard in the middle of the park are just some of the problems mounting up for the Reds. An inability to cope without the departed Luis Suarez really does seem like their biggest weakness right now.

They're not quite the same well-oiled machine as last season. They were given a scare by Hull City in a fantastic encounter and they've already lost to Stoke City. A need to recapture their dominant streak is fast becoming their primary concern.

Defensive frailties continue to haunt Louis Van Gaal, and they show little signs of abating. Their 5-3 capitulation against Leicester City has already been a real low point. A change of formation or a re-distribution of assets to help out at the back is a necessity.

Arguably in more disarray than any other team in the league, Alan Pardew looks to be on his way out of a job, unless he can instigate some sort of miracle. Lack of confidence, limp tactics and little belief in Pardew's project are plaguing the Toon Army -- all in all, too many problems to list, in all honesty.

A single win at home against Sunderland underlines a side that is in dire straits. Not even the experience of Rio Ferdinand seems capable of cementing a solid foundation. They're leaking goals with rapidity and are struggling to find a stop-gap measure.

All in all, it's been positive from the Saints, but they've only faced one of the so-called big-guns in Liverpool so far and that might have something to do with it. How will they cope when the Citizens or the Blues come to town? And can Graziano Pelle keep on scoring wonder-goals?

A relatively fortuitous calendar start to the season saw them pitted against some similarly-matched sides -- aside from the Manchester City game which they won -- but they've failed to deceive against the league's new boys, taking just a point from their meetings with QPR and Leicester.

Kings of the draw, the Black Cats have had a share of the spoils in five of their matches already. They need to find their match-winning touch, and soon. Gus Poyet is safe in the Stadium of Light hotseat for now.

Three wins from their opening three games showed that the Swans are a resilient bunch, capable of holding their own this season. However, they've not won since their 3-0 trumping of West Bromwich Albion, and might just need to work on re-discovering their early-season form.

Mauricio Pochettino has had his work cut out for him transforming his squad of underachievers, and it's still very much a work-in-progress. If they can get Harry Kane scoring regularly away from European competition, the Lilywhites might just kick-start a revival. They need a prolific goalscorer to go places this season.

Before they ripped Burnley at the seams in their 4-0 win, the Baggies had only managed three goals this term. And while their recent big win has done their confidence a world of good, they still need to work on their finishing.

Having played matches against Spurs, Liverpool and Manchester United already, some might argue that the Hammers have done well to accrue seven points so early. Their form has been patchy and inconsistent, though. They need to show a bit more gusto with their displays.
