Confronted with Borussia Dortmund's defence during their most recent outing, Olympiakos star Afellay looked very comfortable. Putting in great shifts for The Netherlands against Kazakhstan, as well as managing to score against Diego Simeone's men, it's clear he's in the type of mood to help Olympiakos upset Juventus.

Some might not be convinced by Rodriguez's displays in the famous white shirt, but he's beginning to show his quality game by game. Looking at his stunning long-range belter against Canada from the International friendlies, which was a thing of utter beauty, it's clear the star of the summer's World Cup isn't just a flash in the pan. Can he convince a few more people next week? We're going to say yes.

With seven goals to his name in La Liga already this season and a recent, positive International break in which he netted four goals against Japan, the Barcelona star should dazzle the Camp Nou audience once again when Luis Enrique's men welcome Ajax for a Group F clash. They really need him to be on top form, but he has a habit of stepping up to the plate, and he should deliver once more.

2. Francesco Totti

Continuing to push himself further and further over the precipice of his “peak” powers, there's just no stopping Totti's efforts to wow his supporters. With two goals in Serie A and another two apiece coming against Manchester City and Juventus, he's been in fine fettle in front of goal. Bayern Munich will be another test for him, but he has the experience to unlock just about any defence.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo

An obvious choice, but if there's one player you absolutely have to watch, it's Ronaldo. There amy well be talk of a return to Old Trafford in a few years time, but his recent performances certainly suggest he's not paying them any heed. He's focused on defending the European crown they won so dramatically last season. Fifteen strikes in La Liga mean he's well ahead of his nearest contender. Liverpool are in for a torrid evening next Wednesday.
