Manchester City Shouldn’t Sack Manuel Pelligrini

Although Manuel Pelligrini has hit a really rough patch of form recently, the Shiekh should be patient with the Chilean. The pressure is officially on for Pelligrini and Manchester City.  The Citizens side have now gone three games without a win (two loses), as well as finishing winless in all three games of their UEFA Champions League group stage encounters.

Manchester City can still challenge for all major titles. The Citizens winless streak comes spread out in all of their competition, so outside of their psyche there is not much to worry about.

City are still very much in the hunt in the Premier League, as they sit in third place behind Chelsea and Southampton with only six points between the three teams. The depth of Man City will allow them to compete for the Premier League crown until the very end, which is something Southampton will find difficult.

The UEFA Champions League success has always eluded City, and Pelligrini was brought in to change their fortune.  While Champions league success looked farfetched this season, with Man City sitting third in the group, they still have half of the group games to play and if they advance from their group, it is any bodies game.

It is unfortunate that City were eliminated by Newcastle in the Capital One Cup, it is hardly a major trophy for elite Premier League teams.

Manchester City should learn to be patient with their managers. They will find that the club will have more stability and success in the long run should they decide to stick with Pelligrini.
