Luka Modric has been ruled out of action for Real Madrid for the next three months. Carlo Ancelotti and the other Galacticos will have to continue their superb form without the diminutive central midfielder. The Blancos have been in scintillating form this season, and the loss of their Croatian dynamo will surely test Real Madrid and Ancelotti’s ability to adapt his strategies.

The 29-year-old midfielder had to leave the pitch midway through the first half of Croatia’s European Championship Qualifying game against Italy. Real Madrid’s team doctors reported that the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder had torn a tendon in his thigh. Real’s report was followed by Croatian physicians indicating that Modric would be out of action well into the new year.

Although the absence of the Croatian international will impact the Madrid side, Ancelotti has a bench full of stars and his ability as a tactician will allow Real to cope with Modric’s absence.

With Modric sidelined, players like Asier Illarramendi and Sami Khedira will see increased minutes.  Illarramendi could go on to show his qualities like Isco has done for Real Madrid this season. Additionally, the Italian tactician could avoid the headache of choosing between fielding Isco, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez by dropping the Spaniard into the central midfield role occupied by Modric.

Whatever happens Real Madrid will want to continue their winning streak and minimize the damage the absence of the Croatian will cause. Los Blancos will kick back into action this weekend when they visit Eibar for matchday 12 action in La Liga.
