Swansea City are set to shake off the 2-1 loss to Manchester City suffered last week by staging a fine show against Neil Warnock’s Crystal Palace. Palace on the other hand will have confidence from their 3-1 home win over Liverpool going into this match. While the Swans under manager Gary Monk are known for fine passing and beautiful display of soccer, the Eagles have shown some brute force and power against oppositions this term.

The Eagles will show toughness reminiscent of the resilience displayed last season which saw them retain a spot in this season’s elite division of English Football. From goalkeeper Julian Speroni and the Hangeland-led defense to the wing, pace and aerial threats of Bolasie, Chamakh and Puncheon, Swansea will have their hands full, though the ball possession may tilt in the Welsh side’s favor.

The physical nature of the match at Swansea’s Liberty stadium this weekend will be evident in the number of yellow cards and probably red cards given. The frustration of either breaking the deadlock or taking the lead could get in the way of player sensibilities. Therefore, unnecessary hard tackles and unprofessional fouls, which would certainly lead to warnings and possibly suspensions, are likely to happen.

With five goals in his last six matches, Bony is certain to get at least a goal in this match. The Ivorian has been the leader of the Swans’ attack since Spanish forward Michu faded away two seasons ago. Bony’s aerial ability and stability on the ground has made him a potent force in England. A goal in this match will put his team in a good stead for the maximum three points.

While Swansea are favored to score as a result of their recent goal-scoring rate, they simply do not have enough solidity at the back to ward off Palace’s threats coming from Yannick Bolasie, Jason Puncheon, Marouane Chamakh and Dwight Gayle. Therefore, Palace scoring is almost as certain as Swansea finding the back of the net.

Both EPL teams will have a share of the spoils in this match as it will end in a draw. Swansea will certainly dominate possession but Palace would do just enough to make the game difficult for the Gary Monk side. Goals will cancel themselves out as the two teams try to outdo each other on the attack, so their defenses will need to be free of slip-ups.
