Despite the fact that the tournament has lost some of its luster, the Club World Cup still attempts to crown the best club team in the world. Real Madrid added this trophy to their cabinet thanks to a convincing 2-0 victory over a gritty San Lorenzo side. Sergio Ramos scored one of his trademark headers in the middle of the first half, to give Madrid a lead they would not relinquish.

When the UEFA Champions League groups were announced, soccer fans were salivating about the return of Liverpool to the prestigious tournament. Many expected the games between Liverpool and Real Madrid to be close and competitive affairs. Real Madrid had other plans. The Spanish giants marched into an incredible atmosphere at Anfield and walked away with a 3-0 victory. This marked the beginning of the end for Liverpool in the Champions League.

Real Madrid had earned a reputation as a team that struggled against German competition in the Champions League. However, that reputation was put to rest as Madrid eliminated three German opponents en route to winning the trophy. Their best performance came against Bayern Munich. After winning the first leg 1-0, Real Madrid went to the Allianz Arena and used their counter-attacking style to perfection, thrashing the Germans 4-0.

Real Madrid began their trophy collecting exploits in April, winning the Copa Del Rey against their bitter rivals Barcelona. As expected, the game was tense from the kickoff. Tied at one with five minutes left in regulation, Gareth Bale made one of the greatest runs in the history of the sport, running from one end of the pitch to the other and sliding the ball through the legs of the keeper, giving Madrid the victory over Barcelona 2-1.

Saving their best for the biggest stage, Real Madrid secured 'La Decima' in the most dramatic game of the campaign. Trailing for most of the contest against Atletico Madrid, Real were rescued by a goal in second-half stoppage time courtesy of Sergio Ramos. This forced extra time, where Real would not look back, winning the final 4-1 and securing 'La Decima.'
