Stoke City have performed as expected so far in the 2014-15 EPL season, hovering around mid-table and aiming to keep the relegation fight at arm's length. However, like most clubs in the EPL, Stoke are only ever a few games away from slipping into the relegation places. To avoid that, Mark Hughes will now be looking to reinforce certain areas of his team in the January transfer window, and here are five players he could target next month.

The indications are that Queens Park Rangers will be open to the idea of offloading Junior Hoilett during the January transfer window. Hoilett got his first break in the EPL at Blackburn under Mark Hughes, and the now Stoke City manager is reportedly interested in reuniting with Hoilett at the Britannia Stadium next month.

Yaya Sanogo looks like he will be one of the most sought after players in the EPL this January between the clubs placed in mid-table and lower. Arsenal want the Frenchman to go out on loan for some first team game time, and Stoke will be looking on with great interest, in addition to many other clubs around them in the standings.

Paul-Georges Ntep currently plays for Stade Rennais in Ligue 1, but his performances so far this season have alerted rival clubs to his abilities. Ntep has served up six goals and four assists so far in his 17 appearances this season, and the forward could bring another attacking dimension to the Potters team.

There are mixed signals emanating from the Chelsea camp regarding Mohamed Salah. Jose Mourinho has publicly stated that Salah will be staying at Stamford Bridge for the second half of the season, but rumors persist that the Egyptian is available and that Stoke, among others, have a strong interest in the winger.

Sergi Roberto has been hailed as a future Barcelona superstar for a while now, but the progression of the Spaniard has failed to marry up with that kind of hype. A loan to an EPL club, however, could benefit the 22-year-old midfielder's career, and Stoke City are at the front of the queue according to reports.
