The Premier League 'sack race' is heating up. A season without casualties has quickly turned into a manager massacre. Crystal Palace and West Brom are the first two sides to pull the trigger, but they certainly won't be the last. Here's a rundown of five men who won't be in their jobs this time next year.

It's not about what Paul Lambert has done wrong; it's more about the fact that he hasn't done a lot right. Aston Villa will probably survive this season and for the foreseeable future, but is that enough? Villa used to be a top half challenger not long ago, and if Lambert suffers another big dip in form, he could well be on his way out.

4. Alan Pardew

The door hasn't even been officially closed on Alan Pardew's tenure at Newcastle United, but it's almost certainly going to very soon. Crystal Palace will be the new destination for Pardew. They're struggling at the bottom and need a savior, much like last season. If Pardew can't match Tony Pulis' heroics from last year, he could be out of the job straight away.

3. Steve Bruce

Steve Bruce is running on thin ice. His team isn't good enough, despite pumping millions into new players. As if that's not enough already, Bruce's contract runs out soon, meaning that he needs to produce something special before the owners turn their heads towards other managers on the market.

2. Brendan Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers did a fantastic job with Liverpool last year, but the momentum is running out. The Reds have fallen away from the title-chasing pack. Their form is improving, but if Rodgers can't mastermind a revival, then he's as good as gone. It's crunch time for him, and it's a massive year for the club to prove last season wasn't a fluke.

After criticizing the fans earlier in the season, Nigel Pearson has managed to alienate some of the locals. Combine that with poor performances and you have a recipe for a managerial change. Pearson stole points from Hull, but if he can't haul Leicester out of trouble soon, he will be the next man to leave his job.
