Just past the midway point of the English Premier League season, the fight at the top of the table is starting to heat up -- but so is the competition at the bottom of the table. There are three teams currently in the relegation zone and several more hoping to avoid sliding down the table into it. Points are precious week in and week out for all of these teams, and here are the top five teams on relegation watch heading into match day 21.

Hull are in relatively good shape in the table, but this is a big weekend for them, as they take on West Brom. A loss and unfavorable results elsewhere could drop them into the relegation zone, or at least drop them much closer to it. That being said, a win against West Brom could keep them safe from relegation talk for a while, especially with a somewhat manageable schedule over the next two months.

QPR are surprisingly clear of the relegation zone and have actually played well of late, accumulating eight points in their last six league matches. However, they were dreadful in their FA Cup loss this past weekend, and a loss to Burnley this weekend could easily put them into the relegation zone. That would put QPR in a world of trouble with Manchester United, Stoke City and Southampton coming up as their next three games on the schedule.

West Brom are just barely out of the relegation zone, and they're spiraling with a mere five points in their last 10 league matches. A win this week against Hull would provide some cushion between them and the relegation zone, especially with a manageable schedule over the next month. However, a loss to Hull likely puts them in the relegation zone with little positive momentum to help them crawl out.

Burnley have been on relegation watch all season, but this week they have a chance to pull themselves out of the bottom three. A win over QPR this week would get Burnley clear of the relegation zone and add to the positive momentum they've built up with five points in their last five matches. A draw wouldn't get them out of the bottom three, but it would be a helpful result for Burnley, with their next three matches against bottom teams.

Leicester sit at the very bottom of the EPL table, but they haven't played nearly as badly as their record would indicate, especially with two wins and a draw in their last three matches across all competitions. A win against Aston Villa wouldn't get them out of the relegation zone, but it would tighten things up at the bottom of the table. It's also a win they need, as their schedule gets tougher in the immediate future.
