Few players get the chance to end their careers with a victory. Even fewer still have the opportunity to win a major tournament on their birthday in their last game with a club. This dream is slowly becoming a reality for Steven Gerrard and his Liverpool teammates. The club legend announced that this season would be his last for Liverpool. Unfortunately, it appears that the elusive Barclays Premier League trophy will not be held by Gerrard. If Liverpool can reach the final of the FA Cup, however, they have a chance to send their captain out with a victory on his 35th birthday.

Last season, it appeared that Gerrard was going to finally be able to lift the Barclays Premier League trophy for the very first time. An unfortunate and infamous slip allowed Manchester City to surpass Liverpool and capture the trophy. Despite the disappointment of last season, Liverpool are starting to rally around Gerrard knowing that this will be his last season with the only club he has ever known. Besides the Premier League title, Gerrard has helped to lead Liverpool to win every other trophy imaginable. In his last season at Anfield, Gerrard will look to the FA Cup as his best chance to end his Liverpool career in spectacular fashion.

Liverpool are slated to face Crystal Palace in the fifth round of the FA Cup. If the Reds can navigate their way to the final, the game will take place at the historic Wembley Stadium. With all of the pieces falling into place, all Liverpool need to do is make the final. For a career that started at Liverpool in 1998, it is only fitting that Gerrard’s last meaningful game in a Liverpool jersey is a victory in the FA Cup Final.
