The big clubs in the Premier League are often either liked or loathed. There is no in between. The addition of Jurgen Klopp and a change in philosophy has turned the tides for Liverpool for the general observer. The team felt stale under Brendan Rodgers, but life has been restored.

Winning always helps and Liverpool have been doing that, especially on the road. The recent stretch of impressive road performances was capped by a 6-1 dismantling of Southampton in the League Cup. Liverpool also beat Manchester City and Chelsea on the road by a combined 7-2 score. The impressive road record has helped Liverpool extend their winning streak to four games across all competitions.

Klopp has breathed life into this team. He has an infectious personality and his antics on the sideline are endearing. This past week he could not watch a penalty kick and turned to the fans for their reaction. He has been very positive and realistic with his team. Klopp was well liked in the Bundesliga, but the Premier League is a different type of league. It appears that does not hinder Klopp’s admirable demeanor.

Emre Can‘s flexibility and technical ability is being used in any way possible by Klopp. The influence of Daniel Sturridge is obvious and his goal celebration is goofy. Even Dejan Lovren and Divock Origi have thrived thanks to Klopp’s high-pressure system and player-first mentality.

The players are happy and playing with more vigor. There is more energy even with Klopp managing expectations. The product on the field has improved and the doubt that built under Rodgers is gone. There is more certainty and the players and coaches are enjoying the rebirth.

A fan of soccer who enjoys the game and does not have a horse in the Premier League race has to enjoy the transformation of Liverpool.
