NFC West QB Rankings – Week 6
In Mark Sando’s weekly look at where the NFC West quarterbacks stand on espn.com,
Sam Bradford sits at number two behind Seattle’s Matt Hasselbeck. Alex Smith at three and Max Hall at four round out the list. Sando reports Bradford posted a season-high 87.8 passer rating and may have been able to pad his stats a bit if the Rams chose a more aggressive play call once they established an early lead. They won, so I’m certainly not questioning the play calling. His fantasy stats aren’t a concern here. This was Bradford’s first game without throwing pick, and the rookie is 3-3 as an NFL starter for a team that went 3-33 record in their previous 36 games. Wins and losses are all Bradford is worried about, and you can’t give the rookie enough credit. I would have him at number one, but the number two spot is certainly fair for Bradford in week 6.
Steven Jackson vs. San Diego
For a running back, there’s no greater feeling than getting the ball handed to you – over
and over again – with the game on line, and Steven Jackson didn’t disappoint. ”To be an elite running back, you have to be able to do that,” Jackson said. ”I can’t take credit for that – I think the offensive line did a great job of just answering to the call.” Jackson rushed for 109 yards on 29 carries. His touchdown in the second quarter put the Rams ahead 17-0, but he was particularly clutch on the final possession with a nine-yard run on third-and-six just before the two-minute warning. Two plays later, Jackson’s 13-yard run sealed the deal for St. Louis. It was Jackson’s third straight game of 100-plus all-purpose yards.
Rams Respond, Spagnuolo Pleased
Rams fans, along Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo, couldn’t help but wonder how their team would respond after such a lop-sided loss to Detroit. On Sunday vs. the Chargers, Spagnuolo and 52,472 Rams fans got their answer. ”I’d be lying if I didn’t say yes,” Spagnuolo said. ”You always wonder how your team will react from a setback like that. I’m real proud.” He should be. Spagnuolo’s game plan on both sides of the ball had San Diego’s high-ranked offense and defense stifled in the first half. Read More
