Gil Alcaraz IV
Director of Content
Hailing from Southern California, I studied at Occidental College before joining Rant Sports. I originally heard about Rant on Twitter while looking for a new blogging opportunity. In just over a year with the company, I was promoted four times, working my way up from a Blogger to my current full-time role as the Director of Content. I’m a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan — watching Daunte Culpepper sparked my desire to play football, and it escalated from there.
Hailing from the city of Toronto, Ontario, I know only too well of the self-deprecating fun that comes with being a fan of Canada’s lone MLB team, the Toronto Blue Jays. A 2006 graduate of Queen’s University, I started my journey at RantSports as a Blue Jays writer in the site’s original incarnation as Bringing Heat, joining the editing staff in 2012 before seeing my writing role expand as a Senior MLB writer at the start of 2013. Now overseeing the editing process across the network, I have been RantSports’ Lead Editor since April of 2013.
Lead Senior Writer
As a Midwest native and 2008 University of Iowa grad, my favorite teams are the Vikings, Cubs and Hawkeyes. I started with the company at the beginning of 2012 as an NFL writer. I eventually worked my way up to a Senior Writer position, was then was promoted to Lead Senior Writer in August of 2013 and later promoted to Content Planner in July of 2014.
Colorado is the place I like to call home. However, I have never been a hometown sports fan and have found myself cheering for the Florida Gators and Chicago Cubs ever since I can remember. I started off my college career at the University of Colorado, but decided to switch teams after two years. I graduated with a degree in journalism at Colorado State University in 2014. I started writing for RantSports in 2012 as a contributor for college basketball, and it didn’t take too long before I was promoted to Senior Writer and Copy Editor. I am now enjoying a full-time role as a Content Associate.
