Randy Moss to come back to the NFL
Over the last week, one of the biggest talks around the NFL is the return of receiver Randy Moss. Moss has spent a little time with a few teams including the Patriots, Vikings and most recently the Titans.
This conversation is a lot like the Peyton Manning scenario going around. He will be playing this next season-but with whom?
To be completely honest I highly hope that Tennessee does not take him back. In the middle of trying to rebuild a team, going just over .500 this season, Moss is the last thing you want on your team.
His last four seasons in the NFL went a little something like this: In 2010 he spent his fourth season with the Patriots, and “didn’t feel wanted”. He was traded to the Vikings after week four and that only lasted four weeks. He was released after criticizing, head coach at the time, Brad Childress along with his teammates. He spent his last eight weeks with Tennessee when Fisher gave him a shot.
The comments coming from Randy Moss I would say are completely uncalled for. The way he acts on and off the field is insane. No one owes him anything, yet the way he is acting, seems like he thinks he should have a red carpet put down when he walks.
In saying that, the Titans was someone who is going to be able to take the lead, one of the only reasons Fisher DID give him a try is because Kenny Britt was hurt (yet again). Britt is healing very quickly this off season and is hoping to be 100 percent by training camp.
Even Fischer himself said that it is too early to tell if Moss is worth the gamble or not. He told NFL.com, “I texted him and said I was real proud of him, because there’s only a few of them over the years that can walk away on their own terms. He had a great career.” But then Fisher closed with, “At this point, it’s too early to say.”
Fisher also thought that when they had Moss for the short time that they did, he played well. He caught just six passes for 80 yards without a single appearance in the end zone in his eight games with Tennessee. What great use of the opportunities there.
One team official was quoted by NFL.com stating that, “As a player, he’s never been a great practice guy, but there were no issues. The problem was in games, he’d lose interest, he’d dog it sometimes…He gets frustrated with double team; when he gets bracketed, he’ll shut it down, and that causes a problem for you. But as a guy, he was good here.”
Point is, Tennessee needs a guy to perform on the field, and they can’t afford to take another gamble with Randy Moss. He is too emotional in a bad way and it will hurt the rebuilding of the team. If he has problems with practicing and being double-teamed, he needs to stay retired.
