The Texas Rangers will travel to Busch Stadium to take on the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 1 of the 2011 World Series Wednesday night. The Cardinals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in six NLCS games while the Rangers beat the Detroit Tigers in as many games during the ALCS.

Baseball’s top two offenses will be on display in what is sure to be one of the highest-scoring World Series in history. The Rangers will host Games 3 and 4 at the Ballpark in Arlington Saturday and Sunday and then Game 5 on Monday if necessary.

Both teams present strong bats, decent starting rotations and solid bullpens. Indeed, the Rangers and Cardinals are very similar in those aspects, but differ greatly in another. The Cardinals rely heavily on first baseman and slugger Albert Pujols to carry their offense while the Rangers use more of a team tactic at the plate.

It will be very interesting to see which Rangers come up big during this series. It was Texas right fielder Nelson Cruz who was named ALCS MVP with six home runs and 13 RBIs, both LCS records. Without an ace like the San Francisco Giants’ Tim Lincecum to worry about, the Rangers have a much better chance to win the 2011 World Series.
