Sad would be a good word to describe this one. The Raptors just game the Charlotte Bobcats their 4th win of the season, losing 98-91 in front of their home crowd.

The Raptors and Bobcats exchanged blows throughout the game, but down the stretch a few key turnovers caused the Raptors to fall in this one.

Jerryd Bayless returned for the Raptors, and scored 2 points in 5 minutes. Andrea Bargnani and Linas Kleiza continue to be sidelined.

Let’s get to the report card:

Offence- B-

Positives

DeMar DeRozan continues to carry the load for the ailing Raptors, pouring in 24 points. Leandro Barbosa and Jose Calderon were also solid, combining for 30 points.

Negatives

Against a porous Charlotte defence, you would hope the Raps would find multiple ways to exploit and attack. However, the Raptors were relatively quite offensively.

Execution was extremely poor down the stretch, and the Raptors have not been a good 4th quarter team all year.

Defence- C

Positives

James Johnson continues to fluster other teams with his swarming defence, and he’s been the Raptors best defensive stopper by far this season.

Negatives

Kemba Walker and D.J. Augustin ripped the Raptors defence, and fuelled the Charlotte attack, combining for 25 points and 18 assists. Reggie Williams was red hot with 22 points as well.

The Raptors failed to contain Charlotte offensively, and Dwane Casey’s defensive system is starting to raise some questions.

Overall, this was a brutal game for the Raptors, a humiliating loss. The Raptors will have some time to regroup before the Detroit Pistons visit Toronto next Wednesday.
