CC Sabathia Heads to 15-Day DL with Abductor Strain

The New York Yankees have placed left-hander CC Sabathia on the disabled list with a Grade 1 strain of the adductor muscle near his left leg. He’s expected to miss just two starts and comeback after the all-star break so this shouldn’t be a huge concern for the Yankees and their fans.

They’ll have the pleasure of welcoming the veteran Freddie Garcia back into the Yankee rotation. Garcia has an ERA of 6.91 and has allowed 37 hits in 28.2 innings pitched. Now that’s a concern.

CC said he originally felt the discomfort in his leg during the fourth inning Sunday night vs. the Mets. It wasn’t known to the Yankees until the pain lingered in his bullpen session Tuesday.

It’s been a good year for Sabathia, not a great one. Despite battling with command on his fastball all season long he still has decent, but not dominating numbers. He has a record of 9-3 with a 3.45 ERA.

This is the first time Sabathia is headed to the 15–day DL since he was a Cleveland Indian in 2006.
