MLB 2nd Half Predictions: AL Central

American League Central Prediction

1. Detroit Tigers
2. Chicago White Sox
3. Cleveland Indians
4. Minnesota Twins
5. Kansas City Royals

Everyone seemingly crowned the Detroit Tiger AL Central Champions before the season started. Needless the say they’ve significantly underperformed based on everyones initial expectations that they would run away with the division after 1B Prince Fielder was acquired.

This team is just too good to finish a 3rd place team in the AL Central. The Chicago White Sox added Kevin Youkilis which looks to be working out well, and the top of their rotation–Peavy, Sale, and Floyd are enough to make things difficult on the Tigers.

If the Indians continue to play mediocre like they did much of the 1st half, they won’t be able to keep pace with the Tigers and White Sox. Justin Verlander, despite that rocky outing in the All-Star Game, will dominate the 2nd half much like the Cy Young and MVP caliber pitcher we saw a year ago.

The White Sox won’t wave the white flag; they’ll keep it competitive down the stretch, but in the end… the American League Central will belong to the Detroit Tigers.
