Fantasy Football 2012 Rankings: Philadelphia Eagles Running Back LeSean McCoy
The Philadelphia Eagles knew they had someone special in LeSean McCoy when they selected him in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft and he seems to be the type of player that gets better and better each year–which is why he’s the No. 2 ranked running back on this list for the fantasy football 2012 season.
Last year, McCoy was usually off the board by late in the first round or early in the second round in most leagues, but that won’t be the case in 2012 as the former Pittsburgh star will most likely be selected in the first three picks in most leagues. Not only did McCoy rush for 1,309 yards in 2011, but he also caught 48 passes for 315 yards and managed to find the end zone 20 times–which is impressive for a player on a squad with as many weapons on offense as the Eagles.
If McCoy follows the same pattern of the first three years of his career by getting better each season, there’s a chance he could be in for another career year in 2012. Just like Arian Foster, McCoy has proven to be just as much of a threat through the air as he is on the ground considering how many times Michael Vick could just throw him a quick screen pass that would turn into a big gain.
Philadelphia apparently has plans to use McCoy even more in the receiving game this season and he did catch 78 passes back in 2010–so it’s no surprise to see him this high on the list heading into the 2012 season.
