Nobody expected the Cincinnati Bengals to make a run at the playoffs last season considering their offense was led by a pair of rookies in Andy Dalton and A.J. Green. Now that he has one year of experience under his belt, there’s a good chance Green will become a top-five wideout during the fantasy football 2012 season–especially after reaching the Pro Bowl as a rookie.
There were high expectations for Green when the Bengals selected him with the fourth overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, but nobody expected him to make an impact as quickly as he did during his rookie season. Green played in 15 games for Cincinnati last season and caught 65 passes for 1,067 yards to go along with seven touchdowns–establishing himself as the new No. 1 wide receiver for the Bengals.
What’s even more exciting is Green produced these type of numbers with Dalton as his quarterback. The fact that these two players developed chemistry this early on as rookies has everyone in Cincinnati excited about the type of future Green and Dalton have with the organization.
Who knows–maybe Green and Dalton will develop into the next best quarterback-wide receiver duo in the NFL. And if that does end up happening, Green may be sitting near the top of this list for years to come.
If Green produced big numbers and reached the Pro Bowl as a rookie, it will be exciting to see what he can do for an encore during his sophomore season with the Bengals. If he can manage to stay healthy, there’s no reason why Green shouldn’t have Cincinnati in the playoff race once again in 2012.
