Mike Wallace knows he deserves the type of long-term deal he’s spent most of the offseason fighting for the Pittsburgh Steelers wideout is considered one of the fastest players in the NFL and has made quite the name for himself as one of the league’s youngest rising stars over the last two years. With the fantasy football 2012 season right around the corner, it’s safe to say Wallace will be quite the popular pick to be a No. 1 wide receiver on most teams and should be highly considered in all leagues.
Over the last two seasons, Wallace has been nothing short of outstanding as the former Mississippi star has caught 132 passes for 2,450 yards and 18 touchdowns. Even if he enters training camp behind the rest of his teammates when it comes to learning the Todd Haley‘s new offense, Wallace should pick things up quickly and shine once again in 2012–assuming he stays healthy.
While the Steelers may be known for their defense, they have established a reputation over the last couple of years for having one of the toughest quarterbacks the NFL has to offer in Ben Roethlisberger–who seems capable of making certain throws no other quarterback in the NFL can make. With Hines Ward–who retired this offseason-out of picture, Roethlisberger will be relying even more on Wallace in the passing game.
With this in mind–fantasy owners will be anxious to have Wallace on their squad for the 2012 season. In most leagues, Wallace will be taken in the third or fourth round–but don’t expect to be able to pick him up beyond that point.
