Fantasy Football 2012 Rankings: Arizona Cardinals Wide Receiver Larry Fitzgerald
Whether it’s Kevin Kolb or John Skelton throwing the ball for the Arizona Cardinals, Larry Fitgerald will be one of the top wide receivers once again for the fantasy football 2012 season. After catching 80 passes for 1,411 yards and eight touchdowns last year, Fitzgerald ranks second on the list of top-10 wide receivers and the former first-round pick has the chance to put up big numbers once again in 2012 as he looks to help the Cardinals get back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2009 season.
Throughout his career, Fitzgerald has been one of the most reliable wide receivers in the NFL as his size and ability as a route runner set him apart from the rest and he’s recorded at least 1,400 receiving yards in three of the last five seasons. Not only did Fitzgerald set a career high by averaging 17.6 yards per catch, but he also recorded eight receptions of 40+ yards–which is pretty impressive for a player that is usually facing tight coverage from opponents.
From a fantasy perspective, Fitzgerald has always been one of the first wide receivers selected and will most likely fall in the second round of most leagues, third at the latest. Here’s a player that’s only missed five games over his first eight years in the NFL–so Fitzgerald also happens to be one of the most reliable wide receivers when it comes to fantasy football considering how rare it is that he’ll actually miss any time off the field.
Now, if Arizona could only figure out which quarterback will be throwing Fitzgerald the ball during the 2012 season.
