2012 NFL Division Preview–Looking at the NFC South

With the 2012 NFL season right around the corner, Rant Sports decided to breakdown the NFC East in their NFL preview 2012.

Eli Manning was the MVP of last year’s Super Bowl… But which player will be the MVP this season in the NFC East?

Manning deserves to be the favorite, but LeSean McCoy of the Philadelphia Eagles seems like the best candidate for this season. Here’s a running back that keeps getting better and better each season and expectations are high for the former Pittsburgh star in 2012.

Who will be the Rookie of Year?

Robert Griffin III is the obvious choice for Rookie of the Year in this division–assuming he manages to stay healthy for the entire season. There’s a reason why the Washington Redskins sacrificed as many picks as they did to acquire the former Baylor star and he will provide a major boost to an offense that struggled to put up points in 2011.

The New York Giants won the division last season? Will they repeat as NFC East Champions in 2012?

It’s always difficult to repeat as champions–especially when you happen to be the defending Super Bowl champions. This will be a very tough division and 2012 and while the Giants should be contenders once again, expect the Eagles or Dallas Cowboys to come up on top of the NFC East.

New York was the only team with a record over .500. How many will finish above .500 in 2012?

Take a look at what the Eagles did at the end of last season–it’s difficult not to select Philadelphia. Expectations are even higher for the Eagles after falling short of the postseason in 2011 and they have enough weapons on both sides of the ball to be serious contenders.
