American League Central Race: Will the Tigers or White Sox Win the Division?
One of the hottest topics in baseball right now is which team will finish on top of the American League Central–the Chicago White Sox or the Detroit Tigers. Over a week ago, the White Sox appeared to be the favorites considering they had a three-game lead in the division, but things are different heading into Thursday as the Tigers are the ones holding a one-game lead.
Detroit has emerged as one of the hottest teams in baseball over the last week as they’ve won six of their last eight games before Thursday’s game against the Kansas City Royals and have favorable matchups for the last week of the regular season. Along with another matchup against the Royals, the Tigers wills square off against the Minnesota Twins one last time–who will be looking to avoid a last-place finish in the division.
As for the White Sox, they’ve watched the division slowly slip away over the last few weeks and have lost seven of their last eight games. On top of that, their final two series against the Tampa Bay Rays–who happen to be one of the hottest teams in baseball right now–and the Cleveland Indians certainly won’t be easy.
Either way, this will certainly be an exciting battle over the final week to see which team comes out on top. At this rate, the Tigers appear to be the favorite and have an edge over the White Sox since they’re the hotter team and have a favorable schedule compared to their rivals.
