Rant-O-Matic: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles Fight For AL East, Miguel Cabrera Triple Crown Run

Here’s the latest edition of Rant-O-Matic for October 3, 2012:

New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles Battle For AL East

After battling for the division over the last few weeks, the AL East Champions will be determined within the next two days. The Yankees clinch the division with a win over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday, but a loss gives the Orioles a chance to take the title with a win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Of course, Baltimore’s situation is a little more difficult considering they would have to win a tiebreaker game on Thursday against New York if they ended up beating Tampa Bay. Either way, both the Yankees and Orioles are in the postseason–so these next few days should be fun to watch for all baseball fans.

Miguel Cabrera Looks For Triple Crown Title

The Detroit Tigers may have already clinched the AL Central, but history will be the main focus for this team during their regular-season finale against the Kansas City Royals as Cabrera looks to become the first player in 45 years to win the Triple Crown title. As of Wednesday, Cabrera leads the three major categories for offense as he’s batting .329 to go along with 137 RBIs and 44 home runs.

As long as Cabrera can hold off Mike Trout, Joe Mauer, and Josh Hamilton–there’s no reason why Cabrera shouldn’t be able to take home the Triple Crown and eventually MVP honors for the 2012 season.
