Here’s the latest edition of Rant and Rise for October 18, 2012:
The Cardinals didn’t let a rain delay stop them from taking Game 3 against the Giants to take a 2-1 lead in the NLCS series. After a leg injury to Carlos Beltran, Matt Carpenter stepped it up with a key two-run home run in the third inning to give St. Louis their first lead of the game before going on to win 3-1.
With the next two games of this series at Busch Stadium, the Cardinals hope to close this series out over the next two days and avoid any possible return to San Francisco for Game 6.
Looks like the Tigers will have to wait at least another day to attempt a sweep of the Yankees as Game 4 was postponed until Thursday due to rain in the forecast. What’s even more ironic about this situation–the rain that appeared on the radar never ended up coming and the game could have been played.
Maybe next time, the league will wait a little longer before jumping to a quick decision about postponing a game considering the impact it could have over the rest of the series.
Kevin Love Out 6-8 Weeks With Broken Hand
The regular season hasn’t even officially started and the Minnesota Timberwolves have already received a setback now that Love is expected to miss the next 6-8 weeks after breaking his shooting hand during practice on Wednesday. Obviously, this is the last thing Minnesota needs considering Love is one of the top forwards in the NBA and the possibility of losing him for the first month of the season is the last thing they need to deal with.
