Here’s the latest edition of Rant-O-Matic for October 26, 2012:
The Irish have been one of the biggest surprises of the 2012 season thanks to a steller defense that’s allowing just 9.4 points per game to help and is off to a 7-0 start.
Everette Golson will return under center for Notre Dame on Saturday after missing last weekend’s game following a concussion suffered against the Stanford Cardinal a few weeks ago. However, the key factor in this defense will be whether or not the Irish defense can step it up against one of the nation’s top offenses.
Not only is Oklahoma averaging 44.7 points per game on the year, but they’ve managed to score 12 touchdowns over the last two games. Manti Te’o and company may face their toughest challenge of the year on Saturday as they look to beat the Sooners for the ninth time in 10 games.
The greatest part about this matchup between these two SEC rivals–both teams realize how important it is to win this game if they want any chance of playing in the SEC Championship later this season.
Florida made a huge statement last weekend with their 44-11 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks to remain No. 2 in the Top 25. The defense has come up big so far this season, but they face a tough challenge on Saturday against Aarron Murray–who is coming off an impressive performance against the Kentucky Wildcats in which he completed 30 of 38 passes for 427 yards and four touchdowns.
