Rant and Rise: Indianapolis Colts Top Jacksonville Jaguars, Florida State Seminoles Avoid Upset
Here’s the latest edition of Rant and Rise for November 9, 2012:
All of a sudden, Andrew Luck and the Colts look like a legitimate playoff contender after picking up their fourth-straight win following a 27-10 victory over the Jaguars on Thursday Night Football. Despite an interception and fumble, Luck led the way for Indianapolis by completing 18 of 26 passes for 227 yards and even managed to find the end zone twice on the ground–which made up for his inability to record any through the air.
While the Colts have turned into one of the biggest surprises of 2012 after winning just two games last season, it’s been the complete opposite for the Jaguars as they sit with a 1-8 record heading into Week 11. What’s even more frustrating–Jacksonville can’t even manage to get anything going at home as they’ve scored just 44 points in five games all season.
Virginia Tech appeared to be on their way to an upset on Thursday as they held on to a 22-21 lead late in the fourth quarter–that is until Florida State put together a late drive for what ended up being the game-winning touchdown.
E.J. Manuel connected with Rashad Greene for a 39-yard touchdown pass with 40 seconds left to give the Seminoles a 28-22 win on Thursday to avoid the upset on the road. Manuel came up big once against for Florida State by completing 25 of 42 passes for 326 yards to go along with three touchdowns–proving once again why this is a top-10 team.
