Rant-O-Matic: Previewing Los Angeles Lakers vs. San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks vs. Orlando Magic

Here’s the latest edition of Rant-O-Matic for November 13, 2012:

Los Angeles Lakers vs. San Antonio Spurs

Basketball fans could not have asked for a better matchup as the Lakers and Spurs look to be two of the top contenders in the Western Conference once again–even if Los Angeles is off to a shaky start.

The Lakers fired Mike Brown after a 1-4 start and believe it or not–they’ve won two-straight games since then under interim head coach Bernie Bickerstaff as they wait for Mike D’Antoni to take over head coaching duties. As for the Spurs, they seem to have picked up right where they left off from last season as they’re off to a 6-1 start.

San Antonio has finished with the best record in the Western Conference in each of the last two seasons and Los Angeles was considered a favorite to reach the finals after acquiring Steve Nash and Dwight Howard during the offseason. It may be early, but this could easily be an early playoff matchup between two of the top teams from the Western Conference.

New York Knicks vs. Orlando Magic

Nobody expected the Knicks to be off to a 4-0 start, but as crazy as it sounds–they look like one of the top teams in the league right now. They’ll square off against a Magic team on Tuesday that is looking to end a four-game losing streak following an 0-2 start to the season.

With this in mind–don’t be surprised if New York improves to 5-0 on the season.
