Here’s a look at the top five teams for 2012 NFL Power Rankings Week 12:
Another week, another impressive performance by Peyton Manning–who threw for at least three touchdowns for the sixth time in seven games during Sunday’s win over the San Diego Chargers. It’s safe to say Manning has returned to his MVP form after missing all of last season, but losing Willis McGahee to a torn MCL for six to eight weeks hurts the offense.
The Patriots’ offense stayed hot against the Indianapolis Colts thanks to strong performances by Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, but losing their star tight end to a broken forearm could hurt this team during the final stretch of the regular season. On a positive note–at least New England has plenty of other options to use on offense.
Even if the Pittsburgh Steelers were playing without Ben Roethlisberger, Sunday’s win on the road was big for the Ravens as they hold a two-game lead in the AFC North. Despite numerous key injuries on defense, this team continues to find ways to pull off wins and seems poised for another run at their second-straight appearance in the AFC Championship.
Anytime Matt Ryan throws five interceptions and the Falcons still manage to come up with the win should be considered a great game. Atlanta received a bit of a scare against the Arizona Cardinals, but this team continues to find ways to win football games–no matter how much their backs may be up against the wall.
How their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars was even close–we’ll never know. The Texans should consider themselves lucky after Week 11 and if they have any chance at competing with the rest of the AFC–the defense will need to start learning how to be consistent.
