Here’s a look at the top five teams for the 2012 NFL Power Rankings Week 13:
It may have been closer than expected, but the Broncos managed to pull off the 17-9 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday to pick up their sixth-straight victory and increase their division lead to four games in the AFC West. With 3,260 passing yards to go along with 26 touchdowns and just eight interceptions heading into Week 13, it’s safe to say Peyton Manning deserves to be placed in the category of MVP talks this season.
Another solid performance by Colin Kaepernick, but it was the defense that came up big in the 31-21 win over the New Orleans Saints thanks to two key interceptions off Drew Brees that were returned for touchdowns. The 49ers appear to be getting hot at the right time as they look to make another run at appearing in the NFC Championship for the second-straight season.
The Patriots’ offense continues to dominate as Tom Brady and company are coming off an impressive 49-19 slashing of the New York Jets on Thanksgiving. New England is sitting comfortably on top of the AFC East with a three-game lead over the Miami Dolphins and the fact that Brady has thrown 12 touchdowns over the last four games shows how dangerous this team can be in the AFC.
Another big win for the Falcons on the road over the red-hot Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they improved to 10-1 on the season. Matt Ryan bounced back after a disappointing performance against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 12 in which he threw five interceptions and this team continues to control their own destiny when it comes to earning the No. 1 seed in the NFC for the playoffs.
Two-straight overtime wins for the Texans after their 34-31 win over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving, but there’s still a reason to be concerned over this defense. Just like the Falcons, this team controls their own destiny when it comes to earning that No. 1 seed for the playoffs.
