The Arizona Cardinals were one of the biggest surprises during the first month of the regular season after a 4-0 start made them look like they had one of the top defenses in football considering they allowed just 61 points over the first four games. Unfortunately, things have fallen apart since then as the Cardinals have lost nine-straight games–with their most embarrassing loss of the year coming on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
Arizona had no answers for their NFC West rivals as they turned the ball over eight times and fell 58-0 to drop to 4-9 on the 2012 season. The loss marked the ninth-straight game the Cardinals failed to cross the 20-point mark and is a big sign of what’s to come once the offseason comes around.
For a head coach that was on the hot seat heading into the regular season, it’s safe to say Ken Whisenhunt will be looking for a new job next year and the poor performance of the team is making Larry Fitzgerald–who should be considered one of the top wide receivers in the league–look bad as he’s been limited to just six catches over the last four games.
It’s hard to believe how quickly a team’s season can turn around in a blink of an eye considering the Cardinals looked like they had what it takes to at least compete for the division title with the San Francisco 49ers and Seahawks. With the way things have turned out this season, don’t be surprised if Arizona goes through numerous changes during the offseason–especially when it comes to their situation at quarterback and the offensive line.
