Rant My Life: What’s Wrong With the Baltimore Ravens?
Not too long ago, the Baltimore Ravens were seen as one of the teams to beat in the AFC as they seemed to have all of the pieces needed for being a strong Super Bowl contender. Unfortunately, things have gone down hill since then as the Ravens have dropped from being a lock for the No. 2 seed to trying to end a three-game losing streak–with their latest loss coming on Sunday to the Denver Broncos.
Don’t let the scoreboard fool you–the Ravens were absolutely embarrassed by the Broncos on Sunday as they couldn’t even find the end zone until the fourth quarter and arguably displayed their worst offensive performance of the regular season. Not only was Ray Rice limited to 38 yards on the ground, but Torrey Smith was limited to one catch and Anquan Boldin failed to catch a single reception.
For a team with these type of offensive weapons–this is absolutely unacceptable.
On paper, Baltimore should have one of the top offenses in the league and it’s understandable why they wanted to let Cam Cameron go considering he could never get Joe Flacco to live up to his true potential, but making the move with just a few weeks left in the regular season is questionable. It’s easy to understand the Ravens wanting to make a change and fix their issues before the playoffs get under way, but the fact that Jim Caldwell is his replacement doesn’t help the situation at all.
For a team that looked like one of the top Super Bowl contenders a few weeks ago, the Ravens seem like a team that won’t even make it out of the first round of the playoffs.
