RML: Brian Urlacher & Chris Conte Should Stop Calling Out Fans
Brian Urlacher and Chris Conte are not happy with Chicago Bears fans for their behavior at last Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers. Urlacher is also upset with fans for going after head coach Lovie Smith. It hasn’t been one of the best weeks for Urlacher’s relationship with fans.
Bears fans have every reason in the world to be upset with this team. They’re playing terrible football. After starting the year 7-1, the Bears have gone 1-5 in their last six games and are on the verge of not making the playoffs. They’ve made countless mistakes and just seem like they’re going through the motions. Meanwhile, other teams in the division like the Minnesota Vikings have taken advantage of this Bears’ slide and have moved ahead of the Bears.
If the Bears do indeed fail to make the playoffs, fans will want a new head coach. This December collapse isn’t a new song for the Bears, and Smith doesn’t seem to have many lifelines or answers left as to why his teams are worthless during the last part of the season. While it is great to see Urlacher’s commitment to his coach, Urlacher’s age and health may suggest he doesn’t return to the Bears in 2013. From the sound of things, he doesn’t want to play for a new coach. But new general manager Phil Emery may want his own guy. That will mean the end to an incredible era with Urlacher and the Bears.
We’d love to know what you think. Hashtag the letters #RML and let us know.
