Rant My Life: Will Sunday Be Andy Reid's Last Home Game as Head Coach?

2012 has been a season to forget for the Philadelphia Eagles as the one-time possible favorites to win the Super Bowl have only won four games heading into their Week 16 matchup against the Washington Redskins. What’s even more crazy to think about–Sunday could mark the last time Eagles head coach Andy Reid acts as head coach for the team in Philadelphia.

With the Eagles scheduled to play the New York Giants on the road in Week 17, Reid could be looking at his last home in Philadelphia against the Redskins as many believe the head coach will be gone following the 2012 season. For a team looking to bounce back from a disappointing 8-8 season in 2011, this year has been nothing but a disappointment for Philadelphia and along with the possible departure of Reid–the team will most likely experience numerous changes during the offseason.

Reid has provided fans with plenty of memories over the last four years as he’s led the team to five NFC Championship appearances and even helped the team reach the Super Bowl in 2005 before falling to the New England Patriots. Still, in a way it’s sad to think about how many talented teams Reid has led over the years and he doesn’t even have at least one Super Bowl ring to show for it.

It’s understandable to see Reid face challenges this year as a head coach considering everything he went through during the offseason with his family, but it’s clear he should have taken at least one year off from coaching following this incident. Reid has received numerous opportunities over the years to bring the City of Brotherly Love their first championship and after 14 seasons–it’s safe to say Sunday may in fact mark his last home game as head coach of the Eagles.
