NFL Wild Card Preview: Packers vs. Vikings Presented by Coors Light

Division rivalries in the NFL are fierce, but they elevate to a whole new level in the playoffs. As if that weren’t enough to hype the Wild Card game between the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers, this will be the second time in a week these two teams have played and the third time this year.

Courtesy of Coors Light, the game’s most refreshing beer, RantSports.com‘s own Jeric Griffin and Dan Parzych are at Lambeau Field for this rematch of Week 17′s thriller, in which Vikings running back Adrian Peterson sliced the Packers’ defense for 199 yards, falling just nine short of Eric Dickerson‘s single-season record. In fact, Peterson put up 409 yards in Minnesota’s first two games against Green Bay this year, so it’s safe to say Packers linebacker Clay Matthews and company will be crowding the line to try and slow down the MVP candidate.

The twist in this third meeting between these NFC North rivals is the status of Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder, who is officially listed as questionable with bursitis in his throwing elbow. Ponder’s pregame warmup was cut short after about a dozen short passes, so Minnesota will likely have to lean on Peterson even more, which could spell disaster for the Vikings.

Stay tuned to RantSports.com for the latest updates on this NFL Wild Card matchup, which could really change the landscape of the NFC playoffs. Also, don’t forget to check out the NFL Game Day Fant Rant for this game, presented by Coors Light, as well as others this year, on our Fan Rant Page.
