By now, most sports fans in this country have received the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue with Kate Upton on the cover as the beautiful model is featured on the cover for the second-straight year. With the type of year she’s had, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to see Upton on the cover, but not many fans realize what she went through during the photo shoot.
As you can tell from this year’s cover, Upton wasn’t taking the photos anywhere warm as the shoot for the cover took place in Antarctica. In fact, it was so cold during the time out there during the shoot that temperatures dropped to -20 at one point when the wind chill was included.
Obviously, Upton did everything in her power to stay warm during the photo shoot (give her a ton of credit), but apparently the cold temperatures had an impact on her body when everything came to an end. In fact, there was even a point where Upton lost part of her hearing and sight–which is the last thing anyone wants to deal with.
So when you’re checking out this year’s Swimsuit Issue and you glance at the cover thinking how cold it must be–just think of the sacrifice Upton made to appear on the cover. There’s a reason why Upton is considered one of the most attractive models in the world at the moment as she’s literally been everywhere over the last year and there’s no question her fans are appreciative of what she was willing to do for this year’s cover.
