Danica Patrick is known as a lot of things: bikini model, IndyCar driver, NASCAR driver and celebrity endorser for arguably the most popular web-hosting site on the internet. She really came onto the scene when she became the first woman to win an IndyCar race in 2008, taking the title in the Indy Japan 300. Then she accomplished another first for a woman: she led laps in the Indianapolis 500 and finished third in the high-profile race in 2009, the highest finish for a woman in Indy history. Now at age 30, she’s still making history; on Sunday, Patrick became the first woman to win the Daytona 500 pole.

Indeed, Patrick is becoming the first woman to do a lot of things, just like she did in Daytona by not only taking the pole, but also holding the No. 1 spot in any NASCAR premier circuit race. Still, she doesn’t really care because that’s not what she set out to do. Patrick says she’s in it “to be the fastest driver, not the fastest girl.”

Of course, she gave credit to her teams and the folks close to her who “made it all possible,” which is admirable, especially for someone as good-looking at Patrick who also happens to be very skilled at her craft.

That second-to-last part comes with another side; Patrick was the focal point of attention even before the Daytona 500 due to her relationship with fellow Sprint Cup rookie Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. See, when someone is as popular as Patrick, anything he or she does is overblown, especially when half the pictures of said person are in not much clothing. Patrick seems to be enjoying the spotlight, though, and don’t think this will be her last Sprint Cup Series win.
