After all of the frustration between the two sides last season, the Minnesota Vikings have agreed on a trade to send Percy Harvin to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for draft picks. While the Vikings have to be pleased with getting a deal now instead of down the road, it’s safe to say the Seahawks may turn out to be the real winner in this deal considering the type of threat Harvin has proven to be over the last couple of years.
When healthy, Harvin has proven to be one of the most dangerous players in the NFL not just because of what he’s capable of as a wide receiver, but as a runner as well. The fact that Harvin can be just as effective on the ground as through the air gives any team an extra advantage and Seattle has to be pleased with the type of talent they’re getting for the 2013 season.
The Seahawks emerged as one of the biggest surprises of the 2012 season with a steller defense, but they ranked near the bottom of the league when it came to passing yards per game. Now that Harvin is on board, those numbers should improve and it’s safe to say Russell Wilson has found his new favorite target in the passing game.
Seattle was already expected to be one of the top teams in the NFC next season and now that Harvin is board–they may just end up being Super Bowl contenders as well following this deal with Minnesota.
