No. 2 Ohio State vs. No. 10 Iowa State
Iowa State put an absolute beat down on Notre Dame on Friday night, but Ohio State did something similar to Iona. Two teams, fresh off big wins will square off in this crucial third round contest as part of the West Region.
The pressure is squarely on the Buckeyes in this one, as the West Region is quickly following apart thanks to upset victories and bracket busters. Aside from No. 2 Ohio State and top seeded Gonzaga, the next highest remaining team in the region is No. 6 Arizona.
Ohio State point guard Aaron Craft shut down Lamont “MoMo” Jones on Friday night, so we will see who he gets matched up with in this contest. Iowa State must find a way to limit the Buckeyes’ star power if they hope to create an upset.
No. 1 Indiana vs. No. 9 Temple
In the second round, the Indiana Hoosiers beat James Madison like a No. 1 seed should be a No. 16 seed. Now however, their next test gets tougher against a Temple Owls squad that looked very good at times on Friday afternoon.
The Owls dispatched North Carolina State in the 8/9 match-up of the East Region, despite blowing a pretty size able double-digit advantage. Temple star Khalif Wyatt is dangerous and can put up points in bunches, but we will see if Indiana can control things inside.
Temple likely has no answer for Cody Zeller, so the Hoosiers’ sophomore forward should shine on Sunday afternoon.
