Previewing 2013 MLB Opening Day
It was great to see the underdog Houston Astros derail the Texas Rangers on Sunday Night, but you can expect even more twists and turns when the MLB season gets into full swing on April 1st. With plenty of headlines buzzing around all 30 MLB teams, we sat down and previewed the best stories of the day.
We start with the defending world champion San Francisco Giants who they are ready to defend their 2012 title. They open the season on the road and play a tough Los Angeles Dodgers team that is brimming with high expectations. These two will be competing in the NL West all year long, so keep an eye out for these two teams come playoff time.
The Boston Red Sox are also trekking to Yankee Stadium and starting the 2013 campaign against their fierce rivals. Yankees fans don’t take kind to Red Sox fans swooping in to their home, but we will soon see who is the loudest in the Bronx. Yankee fans will hopefully be cheering on Kevin Youkilis who is making his debut with New York.
Don’t forget about the inter-league matchup between the Los Angeles Angels and the Cincinnati Reds. With the new MLB format there will be more games like this, but this game is extra special because Josh Hamilton is returning to Cincy. Hamilton was with the Reds prior to making his name with the Rangers, so it could be a nice homecoming for the slugger.
Lastly the Upton brothers will be doing battle against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday Night. Altanta will play host to Chase Utley and Ryan Howard as the Braves hope to start Justin and B.J’s tenure off on a good note.
