Final Four Predictions For 2013 NCAAW Tournament
Women’s college basketball is down to just four teams and the Brittney Griner led Baylor Bears are not one of them. With Griner now sitting at home, the highlighted player is Skylar Diggins. The senior point guard has taken the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to two straight NCAAW Championship games, but has yet to cut down the nets in victory. It will not be easy for the Irish as they face the Connecticut Huskies for the fourth time this season, these games have all been excellent and each have ended with an Irish win in 2012. We will see if Geno Auriemma and the Huskies get any revenge, but I have the Irish heading to the Championship game for the third straight season.
The other final four game is between the Louisville Cardinals and the Cal Lady Bears. Not too many fans penciled the Cardinals going this far in the tourney and rightfully so as their own coach called them the “ugly ducklings” of the tournament.
With both the men and the women in the Final Four, let’s see if the Cards can edge out the favored Lady Bears in this matchup. A lot of folks will be picking the cinderella Cardinals, and I am one of them. Anytime you can derail the national champions, you have earned my respect as Louisville has played like a championship caliber team although they are just a five seed.
That leaves the Irish facing off against Louisville in the National championship game. Considering this is the last year of the Big East as we know it, could you draw up a better ending? Diggins is the real deal and she will lead the Irish to their first title since 2001 as the Cardinals run into a roadblock in the Irish.
