Ron Artest is a moron, but his latest claim is insane. The Los Angeles Lakers play the New Orleans Hornets on Tuesday night, just 12 days after “Metta World Peace” had knee surgery, but LA’s colorful small forward says he’s going to play.
That’s arguably the dumbest thing he’s ever said, and that’s saying something. Artest is 33 years old and he just had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, so he ain’t coming back early. Sure, he can talk all the horse radish he wants and Kobe Bryant can call him “Wolverine,” (indicating he can recover from an injury extremely quickly) but he’s already listed as OUT of the lineup for Tuesday’s game, so it’s safe to say this was just another moronic claim by the NBA‘s most polarizing player.
However, the Lakers’ playoff hopes are another story. They’re half a game behind the Utah Jazz for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, so they desperately need to beat New Orleans on Tuesday night, but having Artest in the lineup with a bum knee would probably only decrease their chances of winning. He’s definitely not a normal human being, but he can’t come back from something like this in 12 days, regardless of whether he’s Wolverine.
