2013 NFL Draft Player Prospect Profile: Sheldon Richardson
With the 2013 NFL Draft quickly approaching, there are plenty of talented defensive players to consider taking in the first round, but one of the key players to keep an eye on may be Sheldon Richardson out of Missouri.
Don’t let the fact that he played at Missouri fool you–Richardson could turn into one of the biggest steals of this year’s draft class as many consider him one of the top defensive tackles from this year’s class. Richardson has a large frame that will make it difficult for any opponent to square off against and he’s been praised for his ability to use his hands to get around offensive lineman–which is sure to cause plenty of problems towards opponents next season.
Unfortunately, there are some concerns regarding Richardson when it comes to his ability to stopping the run as that was one of his main areas of weakness throughout college. Still, no player in the NFL is ever going to be perfect and there’s no reason why the Missouri star still can’t succeed in the NFL by living up to his hype.
As long as he can manage to stay focused and keep his work ethic up–Richardson should just turn out just fine at the pro level. If anything, these areas of weakness are just things for him to focus on during the offseason and improve in time before the regular season rolls around so it may not be as much of an issue.
