Peyton Manning is a beast. This guy hasn’t been teammates with Wes Welker for a month, yet the two are working out together at Duke this week. In other words, Manning doesn’t take a day off.
Welker left the New England Patriots after failing to win a Super Bowl with Tom Brady and will now join another Hall of Fame quarterback in pursuit of a ring. They were in shorts and t-shirts, but Manning connected with Welker as well or better than any other receiver to which he’s every thrown at the workouts and he knows it; Manning said he just had a natural chemistry with his new favorite target from day one. That spells bad news for the rest of the AFC as the Denver Broncos are now clear-cut favorites to represent their conference in the Super Bowl.
Manning also brought Broncos receivers Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker to work with Welker, so the trio should be catching passes from Manning in their sleep. Manning’s younger brother and New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning was also there for the Manning Passing Academy and brought along three receivers of his own in Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks and Louis Murphy.
Perhaps the best part of the event was the prank Peyton pulled on Decker when he had a fake invoice sent to his receiver for fees he owed the university for the workouts. Be sure to check out that story in our Clubhouse section by clicking HERE.
