2013 NFL Draft Player Prospect Profile: Star Lotulelei
One of the top defensive tackles from this year’s draft class, Star Lotulelei out of Utah is exactly what teams look for in a defensive star who will cause all sorts of problems for opponents. Not only does he possess great strength, but Lotulelei displays great quickness off the snap and is great when it comes to stopping the run.
Just look at his career at Utah and it’s clear Lotulelei is the type of player who seems to just get better and better each season–which gives him plenty of potential at the NFL level as long as he can work on certain areas such as technique. There may have been a reason of concern to draft Lotulelei a couple of months ago because of his heart condition, but doctors have made it clear that will not be an issue for him playing in the NFL–which teams have to pleased to hear about.
This year’s draft class is filled with plenty of talented defensive talent, but it’s difficult to ignore how much Lotulelei’s stock has risen over the last couple of weeks as his workouts have been pretty impressive to scouts. When it comes to players capable of making an impact right away as rookies, Lotulelei is right up there with the rest of them.
In fact, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if Lotulelei managed to work his way into the starting lineup once Week 1 rolled around next season.
