There was a reason why Florida State‘s defense ranked near the top of the college football world last season and Bjoern Werner played a big role as to why as he has seen his stock rise over the last couple of weeks. There’s no question Werner could easily turn out to be one of the top defensive prospects from this year’s draft class and it will be interesting to see where he falls in the first round considering the amount of teams in need help on defense.
Werner has great quickness to get by blockers and he does an excellent job when it comes to applying pressure to quarterbacks. As for rookies with the potential to make an impact during their first year, Werner is right up there with the rest of them and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he even ended up starting once Week 1 rolls around.
A great defender who seems to be the type of player capable of getting better and better with more experience each season. Werner is certainly worthy of a first-round selection–it’s just up to him to prove it once the regular season gets under way in September.
If the last couple of weeks are any indication of what’s to come, there shouldn’t be any issues with Werner when it comes to making the adjustment to the pro level, but he still needs to prove himself first and show he’s worth the hype.
