2013 NFL Draft Player Prospect Profile: Tyler Wilson

This year’s draft class may not be filled with any standout quarterbacks like previous seasons, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t any sleeper quarterbacks to keep an eye on–especially when it comes to Tyler Wilson. The Arkansas quarterback has great frame and arm strength to succeed at the NFL level and while he may not be selected ahead of some of the other quarterbacks from this year’s class–many scouts believe Wilson deserves to be ranked ahead of them.

Just look back at his career at Arkansas and it’s clear Wilson is one of the most accurate quarterbacks from this year’s draft class. He may not earn a starting job this year, but it will be interesting to see which team Wilson lands on for the 2013 season where he will most likely play the role of a backup.

If there’s anything to take away from last year’s draft class, it’s any quarterback is capable of becoming a starter no matter what round they may be selected in–just look at Russell Wilson. The argument can be made that Wilson most likely would have been a popular quarterback to select last year and despite Arkansas’ disappointing 2012 season–that shouldn’t be held against Wilson.

The potential is certainly there for Wilson and it will be interesting to see how he makes the transition to the pro level. It may take some time, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Wilson competed for a starting job a few years down the road.
