There are plenty of great defensive players to keep an eye on in the second round and Alex Okafor of Texas is one of those players that sticks out the most. There’s a good chance Okafor will be gone by the time the second round comes to an end, so if he’s available–don’t be surprised if teams jump on the opportunity to bring him on board for the 2013 season.
Okafor has been praised for his ability as a pass rusher as he possess great power that causes plenty of problems for opponents trying to protect the quarterback. Not to mention Okafur is one of those tempting picks considering he’s experienced when it comes to playing multiple positions, but defensive end seems like his best option when it comes to playing in the pros.
Sure, Okafor still has numerous areas in need of improvement, but that doesn’t mean he can’t work on these areas over the next couple of months before the start of the regular season. The fact that Okafor proved he’s capable of playing multiple positions shows these areas in need of improvement shouldn’t be an issue and it will be interesting to see how he makes the transition to playing at the NFL level.
He still has a lot to prove, but Okafor could turn into one of those under-the-radar rookies to keep an eye on when it comes to rookies making an impact for the 2013 season.
