The Golden State Warriors beat the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night to make all four 2013 NBA Conference Semifinal Playoff series tied at 1-1. We learned two things from this game: 1. Golden State is a contender and 2. San Antonio is no longer a titan team in the NBA.

Of course, it’s hard to beat any team when a player goes eight for nine from downtown for a career-high 34 points, but the Spurs simply had no answer for Klay Thompson, who did just that. San Antonio played good all-around ball, but the Spurs were too passive as a team, especially in the second half and that’s been their Achilles heel in the postseason over the past half a dozen years.

San Antonio shot just 39 percent from the field, including one for five from three-point range by Manu Ginobili. The Spurs had two big shots in the game —  threes by Gary Neal and Tony Parker — but they came way too late and they weren’t nearly enough.

Now all the pressure is on the old team as the series shifts to Oakland and unless the Spurs figure out a way to keep the Warriors from making it rain every game, this series could be over quicker than you think.
